Every day we hear about new companies and new technologies that support Reality Computing. One recent example is Authentise, a California startup that has developed software to stream design files to 3D printers.
As more companies use Reality Computing and workflows supported by digital data, they are also wresting with digital piracy and intellectual property protection. The startup hopes to do for 3D designs what Spotify and Netflix streaming has done for music and movies. Since you don’t download the original 3D print file, you can’t copy or share it.
The company’s streaming technology provides a legal and more secure vehicle to buy and print protected designs—from a replacement part for your dishwasher to that missing Lego piece for your Millennium Falcon!
