Artec and Autodesk are pleased to announce the beginning of their collaboration to integrate Artec’s hand-held scanners (Eva and Spider) with Autodesk Reality Computing software. The project involves tight integration between capture devices and post-processing software to provide users with an unsurpassed integrated experience and an all-in-one solution. The collaboration will be initiated with the integration of Artec’s handheld scanners in Autodesk’s Project Memento.
Project Memento aims to offer an end-to-end, all-in-one solution for converting any reality capture input (photos, scans) into high-resolution 3D mesh models. Its core engine and data structure are built from the ground-up to support huge mesh datasets that are the standard result when converting reality data into a mesh. Memento has a focused toolset to clean up, fix mesh errors, and prepare /optimize the generated models for the Web and for mobile experiences, further design, or for fabrication.
Artec’s hand-held scanners boast both high accuracy and high resolution. They can be used with CAD applications, for quality control purposes, and highly-detailed CG scenes. Recently, Artec’s latest product, the Shapify Booth body scanner, was installed in the UK supermarket Asda, delighting shoppers by making precise 3D-printed replicas of them and their families.

As with their collaboration, Artec’s vision of making 3D technology universally accessible aligns with Autodesk’s ideas to help people imagine, design, and create a better world.
